…dazzled by dragonflies
Lighthouse Cottages, Nobbys Whibayganba
Another humid, sunny Autumn’s Day. I walked from Horseshoe Beach carpark to the break wall and was dazzled by dragonflies. I caught the golf buggy express up the hill, took up my position in Cottage 3 Desk 4 and laid out my gear for the day. Laptop, camera, brushes, drink bottle, glasses. Morning light streamed through the windows, white & energetic.

Much like last week, I found it impossible to simply stay inside. Humidity and expected rain meant low, close clouds were flying by a wiser, wearier high-cloud sky. The lawn at the lighthouse was pock-marked with little bundles of soil; crickets leaped and flapped ‘round my ankles at the low north wall.
I spent time examining buildings and marveled at their condition in such a salty place. I saw humanity in the architecture and finally remembered to capture a little lighthouse shot.

The afternoon wind rose to meet my expectations, gusting as promised.
My silver leaf work had to stop as open, airy windows wreaked havoc, sending tiny, shiny pieces flying eastwards. The wilder the better; I await the day I’m lucky enough to experience a storm in this magical place.
