My partner Martin turned 50 this April. We hosted a celebration over 4 days at a rented property in Moonan Brook, NSW, at the western end of the Barrington Tops. Family and friends stayed in the main house, the bunk house, their caravan or tents. We had a birthday feast, campfires, swam in the brook and walked country roads. No wifi, no TV, no phones, just good company and beautiful weather. And some amazing photographic opportunities. Bliss.
I’ve yet to undertake a family photo shoot I haven’t enjoyed. Perhaps I’ve been lucky, but the families I’ve had the pleasure of spending time with have been a joy to photograph. November 2016. Portraits. The traditional head-and-shoulders study or eyes-straight-down-the-camera is something with which we are all familiar. In photographing children there is something to be said for capturing a more ‘editorial style’ of portrait.
